What a GREAT Ship! Worked onb the hangar bay space with the S6 retrograde shipping. Remember Mr.Turpin, Dan Sparkman,Phil Sanders and a few others that I taught to inhale helium on the hangar deck in PI during an appreciation day for the "natives" Worked hard and played hard and had a great time.

Fantastic site! I did not serve on the Big 'O, but did serve in the submarine fleet. My dad was in B Div '60-'63 on her. I am currently working on the revell kit for my dad and was wondering where I can find a good pic of Starboard aft?

Got onboard in San Francisco when she was in dry-dock and left when she pulled into Japan. Had good times pulling inventory.

The big "O" was one of the findest ships that I ever served on. It was sad to see her go the way she did but fitting.

Got out of the navy the last day of the last cruise 1976. Made a lot of good friends on The "O" Boat. Glad I was there.

I served aboard the Big "O" from 1964 until the middle of the cruise in 1966 just prior to the fire. Am looking for any OE division shipmates during that period.

What a great site. I also want to make a model of the "Mighty O". Now that I know one available. I'll be back I need to scan some pictures I have to contribute.

I was aboard the Big O from Sept. to April, 1953-54 with VF 193, CAG 19. I have several pics of this bad landing and would share them if anyone is interested. FYI, the pilot was back in the air in two hours after this incident!!

Thanks Gene for all your work. I connected with Bill Bailey about a year ago and we have been through a lot of memories. We were in the VF-162 powerplants shop together and hung out with each other during that cruise. I have some super 8 films taken on Oahu and the Oriskany (goofing off on the flight deck, replenisments, and flight OPS) if your interested. Keep up the good work.

Frank...I'd be very interested in adding your video to my website. Have you seen Bill Bailey's video here yet?
I'll contact you via email.

I am thankful to Gene Lewis for providing a historical log for us to share and enjoy. I would like to find as many surviving shipmates from VF 162 :The Hunters" squadron as possible. I have already found Rick Musselman, Frank Stees Larsen Allen,JIm Bennett, Ken Etten,James Zeyn. I would like to find Billy Morgan, Gary Liptack and Dino Wyatt as well. Thanks Gene, Bill bailey

I wanted Ron to be the first person to sign this new guestlog since he was the first to sign my original back in 2004.
A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then and I'm even more proud of my website than before if that's possible.
I hope everyone likes the new log. If you encounter any problems, don't hesitate to drop me an email.

Gene, Thanks for the wonderful sites, both yours and Oriskany on Line, that allow us all to relive those unique years of our youth. What a great tool. All your work is certainly appreciated.
