| Although
not directly related to the USS Oriskany, these articles are the
stories behind the movies Oriskany played a major role in. Please
keep in mind that the original magazines these stories were scanned
from are large, approx 10.5" x 13.5". To enjoy these at highest
quality, zoom in to 150% - 200% at least and view one page at a
time. The first article is in the July 6, 1953 edition of Life Magazine. This is the full story by James Michener titled "The Bridges at Toko Ri". The story is 27 pages long and is very nicely illustrated. The other two articles are from the Saturday Evening Post. These are the stories "The Men of the Fighting Lady" was based on. In the May 10th 1952 article, written also by James Michener, is "The Forgotten Heroes of Korea". The other article in the Nov 29th 1952 issue of Post is titled "The Case of the Blind Pilot" by Cmdr Harry A. Burns, USN. Both articles include several photos.
