Reflections of my service

in the

United States Navy
(illustrated)

I joined the US Navy right out of high school in July, 1963. I served for just under four years and was honorably discharged in June, 1967. I wanted to write down some of my memories of that time in my life to share with family and friends. To keep this story from being too boring, I've tried to illustrate it wherever possible. Many of the photographs I took during this time has been lost so I have used generic photos as well as my personal photos.

If you take the time to read this, please bear in mind that I'm no writer and my high school English teacher would be appalled at my grammar and sentence structure. With that in mind, I still hope you enjoy reading about my time in the Navy. If you were in the service yourself, perhaps my story will bring back fond memories. If you haven't written about your time in the military, I highly recommend it and I'm sure your family will appreciate it too. It is, after all, a part of your family history.

My story is divided into four parts. Just click on the links below to go to that page. Most images found on these pages can be clicked on to open a larger version. The fifth and final part, Epilogue, which is not done and is not linked yet, will  hopefully answer the question, "I wonder what ever happened to...?"

If you have any comments or questions about my story, you can drop me an email.
